What if the mission field isn’t just cross the ocean—but across the street?

Many believers feel a deep burden for mission but don’t sense a call to move overseas. When we think of missionaries only as those sent to distant places, we can overlook the harvest Jesus spoke about when He told us to pray for workers in Matthew 9:38.

At Neighborhood Churches, we believe God is raising up missionaries for the mission field within the local church.

Urban Missionaries are men and women who live and serve in local neighborhoods as ambassadors of the gospel. Serving alongside our churches, they build relationships, share the gospel, and care for people in everyday moments—evangelizing the lost, befriending the lonely, and bringing hope to those in crisis.

Sometimes that looks like one-to-one discipleship.
Sometimes it’s a Bible study in an apartment complex.
Sometimes it’s simply being present when someone needs a friend.

Our goal is simple: identify, train, and deploy missionaries from local churches to local mission fields.

If God has given you a heart for people and a burden for places often overlooked, you may be called to serve as an Urban Missionary.

The mission field may be closer than you think.
